Behind A Poem Is Another Poem

should all poems really rhyme?

should they use words like sublime?
what techniques really make a poem;
the ones where you tell a story,
of where you’ve been goin’?

Children find poems fun at first,
But taught to wear ’em out in a burst
of a balloon-red simile or metaphor
What are these techniques needed for?

They do not create the reality
They create visuals of similarity
So everyone can have their own poem
That relates to where they’ve been goin’.
